when i first heard about the NWU (which sounds f*ckin stupid) i was afraid that people would start wearing the 8 point like a ballcap all f*cked up and sh*t. and as soon as i saw a fleet returnee in "A" school wearing the BDU 8 point cover that dumba** confirmed my fear. pulled it over his fat a** head like a ballcap and jacked it all up.

but from what im seeing on google images people are wearing it like they should be except for some who are wearing it a little too high above their eyes.

as far as the way the sleeves are rolled it honestly makes sense why they would be rolled like that, because of the whole battle dress thing, but the only people i've ever seen get that kinda roll correct are AF and Army personnel.

i dunno but from what im seeing hardly anybody in the Navy ever seems to to know to roll a f*cking sleeve correctly, except for me and a select few others. i had a lot of practice before i came into the Navy so for me, it ain't hard. as to how the f*ck people manage to get the fold that should be on the inside of your arm on the outside is beyond me! but when done correctly i think the way we the seabees (oorah!) roll the sleeves on the BDUs right now (like the Marines) looks the best.

my solution to that problem is giving people formal training on how to do it instead having to figure it out from some other idiot who doesn't actually know how to roll em either. they should have given us bees formal training on that shit back in our "A" schools but no, if it makes sense in the Navy we don't do it. just figure it out on your own so you can look like an a** clown in uniform instead of a professional.

as far as the 8 point cover solution a simple look in the f*cking mirror should be enough to show you whats wrong with the way you're wearing it, if not you're just plain too f*cking stupid to be in the military period.

but i guess when you introduce a whole different style of uniforms to a branch these things tend to happen at the beginning. the sleeve thing though, we're just fucked.

and i refuse to wear cammies that have an EGA unless i went through USMC boot camp or FMF school and got selected. i didn't earn my right to wear the EGA so im not going to wear it.

that stupid ass anchor, constitution, and whatever the f*ck it is idea is gay IMO. thats just a cheap a** copy off the Marines idea. and from what i heard we seabees are gonna have to put our emblem on the right breast pocket? i say just scrap the damn "ACE" cause its a dumba** imitation of the Marines EGA.

but then again i didn't enlist in the Navy back when it was f*ckin created like some of the people that decided on the policies for this new uniform so anything i say doesn't matter, and im a seabee so its a given that nobody cares what i think.

my two cents plus a few more...

Velcro was not used because of its short lifespan and its difficulty to maintain. same reason that Air Force didn't go with it.

The uniform its self is ok, my commmand is trying to make us tuck in our blouse HAHAHAHA how horrible is that
My main complaint is the BOOTS, the bellville boots they want us to wear are the most uncomfortable boots i have ever worn. Please god let them change that part of the regs. Its obvious who ever made up this uniform hasn't spent much time in those damn boots or he would have changed that. Those are desk boots not foot patrol or standing gate boots

Stop complaining already! We are breaking away from the Air-Force Wanna-be utilities that made us look like car mechanics and industrial workers in the Cold War. I joined when we wore white hats (dixie cups) with our dungarees (yes, I am old!) and it was all about the job. Now, what kind of uniform LOOKS like we are ready to hunt pirates, augment the Army, and fight terrorists? Not the utilities! Every smart-aleck who wants to say we are gonna "blend in" if we fall overboard can go join the Peace Corps, because the POINT is to not fall off! We should wear them out in town, yes, but only if we can be squared away in them ON BASE first. We are all proud of the uniform, we just need to show outstanding pride and then we can be trusted to not look unprofessional...I have seen many a Sailor wearing their utilities out in town when not authorized, and we deserved the probation before the privilege of wearing them off base. I love these uniforms, and the elastic is more about shipboard laundry...what we should be complaining about are those effeminate PT Shorts and Yellow, transparent-when-wet PT Shirts that aren't even compatible with shipboard laundry, and the Surface Sailors are the only ones who wear these (EOD, SEALS, DIVERS couldn't care less what the Surface Warriors wear). Even SeaBees have their own community of PT Gear. At least I'm not an Officer (yet, wink wink) with extremely expensive uniforms and swords. I am grateful for a BDU uniform. They look like we are in the War on Terror, not the War on Dirt.

I completely agree. I am USN stationed at an Army base for a year. The US Navy has too many restrictions on its sailors in regards to the uniform restrictions off base (post for you Army guys). What ever happened to being proud of your uniform and wearing it in public? I am a pilot and have not been allowed to wear my flight suit on the Army base. I wanted to get into BDUs to be more comfortable, but didn't want to invest in yet another uniform (woodland BDU) that was soon to be obsolete. Since I am in the midwest, the new BDU wasn't authorized until recently, but on backorder. I had to have a friend from the east coast mail me a set of the new ones once they were authorized. When they arrived, I was surprised that there was no velcro to be found. All the Army folks enjoy the velcro upgrades. I agree that the services need to settle on one uniform for exactly the reasons you stated. I would be curious too see how much money was wasted in uniform design and development over the years. I know I have personally spent a small fortune keeping up. I can wear a different USN uniform every day of the week and then some (with different footwear each day as well). It's getting out of hand.
