Microsoft Announces Worldwide Telescope

24 May

Now this is too cool…Similar in concept to Google Sky, but funner to navigate through and the image database is simply amazing! Most fun are the “guided tours” of interesting locations or objects. Take the time to explore, it’s well worth it!

WorldWide Telescope (WWT) is a tool for exploring into different parts of the Universe using data from at least ten different telescopes stationed around the world and even from one telescope orbiting about the Earth: the NASA Hubble Space Telescope.

Gates said during a speech in Jakarta, Indonesia, “This is taking data that’s very complex, gathered over many years from many telescopes, and making it accessible.” [PC World: “Microsoft’s Answer to Google Sky to Launch at End of May”]
