Windows Logo Key Keyboard Shortcuts

WinKeyFrom a productivity standpoint – no matter what OS you use – keyboard shortcuts are a one-way ticket to enhanced speed, and Windows 7 is no slouch in that department.

Here’s a list of keyboard shortcuts that you might want to look at that use the Windows logo key image :

  • Win image  Open or close the Start menu.
  • Win image +Pause Display the System Properties dialog box.
  • Win image +D Display the desktop.
  • Win image +M Minimize all windows.
  • Win image +Shift+M Restore minimized windows to the desktop.
  • Win image +E Open Computer.
  • Win image +F Search for a file or folder.
  • Ctrl+Win image +F Search for computers (if you’re on a network).
  • Win image +L Lock your computer or switch users.
  • Win image +R Open the Run dialog box.
  • Win image +T Cycle through programs on the taskbar.
  • Win image +number (1-9) Start the program pinned to the taskbar in the position indicated by the number. If the program is already running, switch to that program.
  • Shift+Win image +number (1-9) Start a new instance of the program pinned to the taskbar in the position indicated by the number.
  • Ctrl+Win image +number (1-9) Switch to the last active window of the program pinned to the taskbar in the position indicated by the number.
  • Alt+Win image +number (1-9) Open the Jump List for the program pinned to the taskbar in the position indicated by the number.
  • Win image +Tab Cycle through programs on the taskbar by using Aero Flip 3-D.
  • Ctrl+Win image +Tab Use the arrow keys to cycle through programs on the taskbar by using Aero Flip 3-D.
  • Ctrl+Win image +B Switch to the program that displayed a message in the notification area.
  • Win image +Spacebar Preview the desktop.
  • Win image +Up Arrow Maximize the window.
  • Win image +Left Arrow Maximize the window to the left side of the screen.
  • Win image +Right Arrow Maximize the window to the right side of the screen.
  • Win image +Down Arrow Minimize the window.
  • Win image +Home Minimize all but the active window.
  • Win image +Shift+Up Arrow Stretch the window to the top and bottom of the screen.
  • Win image +Shift+Left Arrow or Right Arrow Move a window from one monitor to another.
  • Win image +P Choose a presentation display mode.
  • Win image +G Cycle through gadgets.
  • Win image +U Open Ease of Access Center.
  • Win image +X Open Windows Mobility Center.
